Pensacola Beach and the Gulf Island National Seashore are two of Florida's best-kept secrets and are home to some of the state's most breathtaking beaches. The green-blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico lap at the blindingly white soft, squeaky sand. Under your umbrella, you might have a book to read, but more often than not, you'll just find yourself taking in the breathtaking scenery. In contrast to Florida's East Coast beaches, several of these beaches are protected by Gulf Island National Seashore Park. They have little development as a result, allowing you to see the coastline in its natural setting. Not all of them are natural, though. Due to its lively atmosphere, excellent dining options, and reasonably priced lodging, Pensacola Beach is one of the Panhandle's top beach destinations. If you hear a roar in the sky while you're here, it's the Navy's Blue Angels aerial acrobatic team performing risky tricks.
