Miami Beach and the Art Deco Historic District

Although spending time on the beach on a hot day is a necessity, Miami Beach offers much more than the magnificent, expansive stretch of golden sand that borders the Atlantic. The Art Deco Historic District is one of the features that sets Miami Beach apart from other beach towns in Florida. Beautifully preserved structures, mostly from the 1930s and the early 1940s, reflect the city's rich past and provide a unique atmosphere. Today, many of these structures are luxurious hotels, apartments, and dining establishments. There are several notable Art Deco structures along Ocean Drive, the renowned seaside thoroughfare that overlooks South Beach, including the Hotel Breakwater South Beach, The Carlyle, and the Park Central Hotel (now part of the new Celino Hotel complex).
