Yamuna originates from the Yamunotri Glacier in the Himalayas. It meets Ganga at Allahabad. Ghaghara, Gandak and Kosi rise in the Nepal Himalaya. Chambal, Betwa and Son are the major tributaries which come from the peninsular uplands.
