Virbhadra Singh dies at the age of 87

Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister and veteran Congress leader Virbhadra Singh died of a heart attack at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla around 3.30 a.m. on Thursday. He was 87 years old when he died. After suffering a heart attack on Monday night, Virbhadra Singh was transferred to IGMC's intensive care unit (ICU) and placed on ventilator support. Since April 23, he has been receiving therapy at the cardiac department. He was admitted to Max Hospital in Mohali on April 13 after testing positive for Covid-19. He was discharged on April 23 following treatment, but when he arrived in Shimla, he got breathing problems and was taken to IGMC. On June 11, Virbhadra Singh became infected with the coronavirus for the second time and recovered. On June 23, he turned 87 years old. Since 1983, Virbhadra Singh, a nine-time MLA and five-time member of Parliament, has served as the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh for six times. From March 1998 to March 2003, Singh was also the head of the Opposition. In the current state assembly, he represented the Arki constituency in Solan district. Pratibha Singh, his wife, and Vikramaditya Singh, his son, are also politicians. Pratibha is a former Member of Parliament from Mandi, while Vikramaditya is a Shimla Rural MLA.
