The Vande Bharat Express struck a cow on Friday near Anand station in Gujarat, one day after striking a herd of buffaloes on the Gandhinagar-Mumbai line. The train's front bumper was only dented, but it had to be stopped for 10 minutes, according to officials. The recently deployed  semi-high-speed train struck four buffaloes on Thursday, and its "nose" cone came off. After an eight-minute break, it resumed since the nose, a fibre-reinforced plastic bumper, is not crucial to the vehicle's operation. Animals died. Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the train and rode it from Gandhinagar to Ahmedabad's Kalupur railway station. The most recent incident occurred shortly before 4 o'clock near the town of Anand, more than 400 kilometres from Mumbai and roughly 100 kilometres from Gandhinagar. According to Western Railway's head public relations officer, Sumit Thakur, "The train's front portion has suffered a small dent."
