The Union Health Ministry stated on Wednesday that the next 40 days will be significant for India because it would experience a spike in infections in January as a result of China's sharp rise in Covid cases caused by coronavirus variant B.F7. The majority of individuals in India are immunized, and many already have a natural immunity to coronaviruses from prior infections, according to official sources, so even if a Covid wave does emerge, hospitalisation and mortality rates are expected to be low. “Previously, it has been noticed that a new wave of COVID-19 hits India around 30-35 days after it hits East Asia…. This has been a trend,” according to an official, as reported by PTI.
