Ukrainians believe that Russian troops left the Chernobyl nuclear power plant after getting significant amounts of radiation. The UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, is currently looking into the claims made by Ukraine's state power company Energoatom. According to a source in the Guardian, the Russians dug trenches in the forest inside the power plant's exclusion zone, and the troops  "panicked at the first sign of illness which showed up very quickly and began preparing to leave." Iryna Vereshchuk, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister, also claimed that the Russians had been exposed to radiation.
