An explosion at a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader's home in East Medinipur, West Bengal, has left at least three people dead. The explosion happened about 40 kilometres from Contai in East Midnapore, where today's rally by senior TMC politician Abhishek Banerjee is expected to take place. The blast happened in the village of Naryabila in Bhagabanpur Block 2 and was investigated by the Bhupatinagar Police Station. Around 11.15 p.m. on Friday, there was a reported explosion at the home of the president of a Trinamool Congress booth in the village of Naryabila. The explosion caused damage to the residence as well, according to officials. According to news agency PTI, a senior police officer stated, "The cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained and further investigation is underway but the impact was so powerful that the mud house with a thatched roof was blown off in the incident."
