The Indian women's football team landed in the city on Thursday to prepare for their forthcoming matches in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, which begin on Saturday. The friendly matches are part of the team's preparations for the AFC Women's Asian Cup, which will be held in India next year. With the support of the Jharkhand government, the Indian squad has been camping in Jamshedpur. The 23-member squad and support crew flew from Jamshedpur to New Delhi before taking a plane to Dubai. The team will play friendly matches against the UAE on October 2 and Tunisia on October 4 before heading to Bahrain on October 10 to face the hosts and Chinese Taipei on October 13.
