Today, a Su-30 MKI fighter jet successfully test-fired an extended-range version of the BrahMos supersonic missile. The BrahMos missile travels at 2.8 Mach, which is nearly three times the speed of sound. The upgraded missile's range has reportedly been increased from 290 km to roughly 350 km. The extended-range version of the missile was fired from a Su-30MKI aircraft for the first time. The missile's long-range capability, along with the Su-30MKI's strong performance, gives the Indian Air Force strategic reach and allows it to dominate future battlegrounds.
