The bodies of seven Indian Army personnel killed in an avalanche in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday have been discovered, according to a statement released today by the army.

The army claimed the patrol was hit by an avalanche in terrible weather and during snowfall in the high-altitude Kameng area, and that a search and rescue mission was immediately initiated. Unfortunately, despite everyone's best attempts, all seven have been declared deceased, according to the army statement. Soldiers patrol the higher parts of Arunachal Pradesh on a regular basis, and avalanches constitute a serious threat in severe weather.
