The 8th education ministers' meeting of BRICS countries will be chaired by Sanjay Dhotre, minister of state for education, communications, electronics, and information technology, to explore academic and research connections. This meeting is taking place as part of India's hosting of the 13th BRICS Summit this year. The five BRICS member countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, will attend the summit. The summit is significant because member countries will discuss education cooperation and measures to rehabilitate the sector after the coronavirus pandemic decimated it. Prior to that, on the 29th of June, the International Governing Board (IGB) of the BRICS Network Universities convened to review the progress made by member states under this initiative thus far and debate methods to advance it. As members of the IGB of the BRICS university network, Amit Khare, the secretary of higher education, DP Singh, the chairman of the University Grants Commission, and Subhasis Chaudhary, the director of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), have already emphasised the importance of increased cooperation.
