Russia surpassed Iran and North Korea to become the world's most sanctioned nation in just ten days after invading Ukraine. According to Castellum.ai, a worldwide sanctions-tracking database, Russia faced 2,778 fresh penalties after moves spearheaded by the US and European nations, increasing the total to 5,530. Iran, on the other hand, has been subjected to 3,616 sanctions during the previous decade, the majority of which have been imposed in response to its nuclear programme and support for terrorism. Syria and North Korea, on the other hand, are subject to 2,608 and 2,077 sanctions, respectively. American Express Co. and Netflix Inc. both discontinued services in Russia, adding to the growing list of services that have stopped operating in Moscow.
