The Thane, Raigad, Pune, and Palghar districts of Maharashtra may experience severe to very heavy rainfall from July 20 through July 21, according to a "Red Alert" notice from the India Meteorological Department. In addition, the weather agency has issued a "Orange Alert" notice for the districts of Mumbai and Ratnagiri, indicating that these cities will also see severe rainfall through Friday. Heavy rains have been falling in the Western state for a few days, but recently the severity has increased.
