In line with its new appearance, the renovated Rajpath and Central Vista lawns in the centre of Delhi will soon be known by a new name. In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push to get rid of names and symbols that are reminiscent of the British era, the entire region has been renamed Kartavya Path (Path of Duty). As a reminder of the Prime Minister's emphasis on duty in the run-up to 2047, when India celebrates 100 years of independence, the entire road and area from the Netaji statue to the Rashtrapati Bhavan will be referred to as Kartavya Path.

On August 15, Prime Minister Modi spoke from the Red Fort's ramparts, emphasizing the need to eliminate emblems of the colonial power. As a result, last week, at the INS Vikrant's launch as the nation's first homebuilt aircraft carrier, the Navy altered its ensign. Previously, Lok Kalyan Marg was adopted as the name of the street where the Prime Minister's home is situated instead of Race Course Road.
