With 1,068 farm fire incidents on Sunday, the state saw a 740 percent spike in these incidents, making it the largest number in a single day during this harvest season. There were just 127 cases of stubble burning on Saturday.

From October 25 to October 29, stubble-burning episodes in Punjab were recorded by NASA's Worldview satellite. There was a substantial decrease in the number of fires on Saturday following a notable increase on October 27.
