On November 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the site of the collapsed Morbi bridge and inspected the continuing search and rescue efforts. The Prime Minister was informed by officials about the rescue efforts at the location where the British-era suspension bridge on the Machchhu river collapsed on October 30, killing at least 140 people. Mr. Modi conducted an aerial assessment of the area prior to his arrival. Darbargadh Palace and Swaminarayan Temple were connected by the collapsed bridge. When the Prime Minister arrived at Darbargadh Palace, authorities gave him a briefing on possible problems with the bridge's construction.
