Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 216-foot-tall 'Statue of Equality' on Saturday to honor Sri Ramanujacharya, an 11th-century Bhakti saint who preached equality in all spheres of life, and to drive home the 11th-century Bhakti saint's message of equality for all. Mr. Modi praised Ramanujacharya's message of equality for all humans, saying the saint has inspired the country's unity and integrity. Sri Ramanujacharya's impact expanded throughout the country, despite his birth in the south, he remarked. Mr. Modi, who is in Hyderabad for a day, paid a visit to the Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy Ashram, where the statue was inaugurated.
