Petrol and diesel prices were increased by 80 paise per litre on Tuesday, while domestic cooking gas rates were increased by 50 per cylinder, ending a four-and-a-half month rate hike due to the election, according to sources. Petrol will now cost 96.21 per litre in Delhi, up from 95.41 previously, while diesel will cost 87.47 per litre, up from 86.67 previously. In the national capital, the price of a non-subsidised LPG cylinder has been hiked to 949.50 for each 14.2-kg bottle. While LPG rates were last changed on October 6, 2021, petrol and diesel prices had been frozen since November 4 due to elections in five states, including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Between July and October 6, 2021, LPG prices increased by nearly INR 100 per cylinder before public outcry reversed the increase.
