The petitions contesting the Agnipath scheme's constitutionality were dismissed by the Delhi High Court on Monday. The High Court stated: “This court finds no reason to interfere with the scheme… All petitions are dismissed.” It was stressed that the scheme was a policy decision based on national security; every petition was dismissed. The court further dismissed the petitions contesting the 2019 recruitment notification/advertisements, stating that neither promissory estoppel nor a legitimate expectation had been created by the recruitment advertisements and that the petitioners were therefore not entitled to vested rights in the matter. The applications are dismissed, the Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad bench concludes, “Keeping larger public interest in mind, the petitions are dismissed.”
