The State government was ordered to enact a ban on truck entry into Delhi on Thursday by the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM). Trucks transporting necessities, offering necessities, and all CNG and electric trucks are exempt from this rule. The CAQM has instructed State governments in the NCR to execute a number of measures under "stage 4" of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), including the ban, "with immediate effect." The GRAP is a collection of emergency measures implemented to mitigate air pollution. “Ban on plying of 4-wheeler diesel LMVs (Light Motor Vehicles) in NCT of Delhi and Districts of NCR bordering Delhi, except BS-VI vehicles and vehicles used for essential/emergency services,” the order read.
