There is no need to panic about H3N2 virus infections in Karnataka, and instructions on the necessary safeguards would be released soon, according to Minister of Health and Medical Education K. Sudhakar on Monday. During that day, the Health and Family Welfare Department released regulations and gave instructions to all medical facilities on how to maintain consistent ILI/SARI surveillance, proper sample collection for diagnosis, and reporting of the same on the IDSP-IHIP portal. Also, it instructed health authorities to make sure there is a sufficient supply of all necessary dosages of medication and that all healthcare personnel working in high-risk settings including ICUs and isolation units are flu-vaccinated. The Minister spoke on Monday with the technical advisory group and top officials in light of the sudden rise in H3N2 virus infections. He stated, “Influenza vaccination is given every year and all healthcare workers are instructed to get it,” in response to a question about what happened in the meeting. The risk of infection is higher among pregnant women. He claimed that actions like maintaining cleanliness, avoiding crowded areas, and practicing good hand hygiene can stop the spread of infection.
