The state government of Kerala said that a double-decker boat capsized and sank around a beach in the Malappuram district Sunday night, killing at least 22 people, including seven children. Around 7 o'clock in the evening, the tragedy happened nearby Tuvalthiram beach in the Tanur region of the district. According to the authorities, a complaint has been opened against the boat's owner for culpable homicide. Although the precise number of passengers on the boat is still unknown, 40 had tickets while many others did not have tickets. According to reports, the boat was also lacking a safety certificate. Rescue operations are being carried out by members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Indian Coast Guard. In order to find individuals who are still missing, underwater cameras are being employed.
