Japan plans to invest $42 billion in India over the next five years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated following a bilateral meeting with his Japanese colleague Fumio Kishida in Delhi this evening that Japan plans to invest $42 billion in India over the next five years. "Japan will raise its investment target in India to an ambitious 5 trillion yen or ₹ 3.2 lakh crore ($42 billion) over the next five years," Prime Minister Modi declared. On his first visit to India as the head of the Japanese government, Mr Kishida landed in Delhi about 3:40 p.m. with a high-level team for the 14th India-Japan Annual Summit. The two countries signed six agreements to expand bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, as well as a separate clean energy relationship. PM Modi stated at a joint press conference that strengthening India-Japan ties will benefit not only the two nations, but will also assist to promote peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
