By the middle of this year, India will have roughly 3 million more people than its neighbor China, according to figures made public by the UN on Wednesday. India will then surpass China as the world's most populous country. According to the United Nations Population Fund's (UNFPA) "State of World Population Report" for this year, India would have a population of 1.4286 billion people by the middle of the year, compared to China's 1.4257 billion people, or 2.9 million fewer people. According to a survey that uses statistics up to February, the United States remains well behind in third place with an estimated 340 million people as of the end of June.
