India reports 4041 new Covid-19 cases

Today, India recorded 4,041 new Covid infections, the greatest single-day increase since March 11, raising fears of a fresh wave forming in some parts of the country where practically all restrictions have been lifted. According to letters sent to state governments on June 3 by the health ministry, the Centre has requested five states — Maharashtra, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu — to reduce rising infection rates. To stop Covid from spreading, the ministry ordered these governments to "maintain a strict watch and take pre-emptive action." In the previous 24 hours, 4,041 new cases have been reported. The number of active cases in India is presently 21,177. Active cases now account for 0.05 percent of all Positive Cases in the country. As a result, India's recovery rate is 98.74 percent. In the previous 24 hours, 2,363 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 4,26,22,757 since the outbreak began. A total of 4,25,379 COVID-19 tests were performed in the last 24 hours. India has completed 85.17 crore (85,17,63,974) cumulative tests so far. The country's Weekly Positivity Rate is currently at 0.73 percent, and the Daily Positivity Rate is at 0.95 percent.
