India continues to lead in international tourism as China battles the Covid-19 spike

For a very long time, Chinese tourists dominated the tourism industry worldwide, notably in Southeast Asia. However, that appears to be altering. Destinations including Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and South Africa continue to use India to boost their Covid-affected tourism industries as China struggles with growing coronavirus instances. The Economic Times reported that with its diversified population, India had received much greater attention from numerous businesses last year. Additionally, they are attempting to replace the lost Chinese tourists, who formerly dominated the charts. Although China has loosened border restrictions after abruptly dropping its Covid Zero policy, several nations are hesitant to welcome Chinese tourists. For arrivals from China, nations like Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Qatar, France, Spain, and Sweden have either enacted new Covid-19 regulations or tightened existing ones. Isada Saovaros, director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Mumbai office, told ET that India has been crucial to the recovery of the nation's tourism industry.
