Following the notification of the amended tariffs by the Delhi government, hiring taxis and auto-rickshaws in Delhi would now be more expensive. According to a notification released on January 9 by the Delhi government's Transport Department, the cost of auto-rickshaws and taxis (black and yellow top) has increased in the city. The announcement stated that auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers in Delhi's National Capital Territory must charge the revised fare. The minimum auto fare has increased from 25 to 30. The customer will now be required to pay 11 instead of 9.5 for any further kilometres than the first 1.5 km. "Rs 30 for the first fall of 1.5 km (upon downing the meter) and thereafter ₹ 11 per km for every additional kilometre," the notification read. 25% of the fare will be charged for night charges (between 11 pm and 5 am), as well as waiting fees (Rs 0.75 paise per minute for every minute stuck in traffic or moving extremely slow). Less than one kilometre per ten minutes has been deemed "extremely slow." For large pieces of luggage, there will be a fee of Rs 10 per piece.
