The fourth annual '2+2' Defense and Foreign Ministry conversation between India and the United States will take place on April 11 in Washington, with the Russian invasion of Ukraine hanging largely over the discussions and taking a significant place on the agenda. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who arrived in Washington on Saturday night and Sunday, respectively, will meet with their counterparts, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, in the first such meeting of the Biden administration. This format was used for the last time in October 2020. The conference last year was postponed several times due to scheduling issues, including a visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to New Delhi in December 2021.
