On Thursday, equity indexes plunged dramatically, echoing a sell-off in global markets, with the Sensex and Nifty falling more than 2.60 percent on widespread selling. Foreign money outflows have also been a drag on confidence. The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex fell 1,416.30 points, or 2.61 percent, to 52,792.23. It fell 1,539.02 points, or 2.83 percent, to 52,669.51 during the day. The broader NSE Nifty index fell 430.90 points, or 2.65%, to 15,809.40. HCL Technologies, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the major laggards among Sensex companies. The gainers were ITC and Dr. Reddy's.
