According to sources, India's drug regulator, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), is likely to approve Zydus Cadila's Covid-19 vaccine for kids, ZyCoV-D, for emergency use within a few days. The ZyCoV-D vaccine, which was developed for children aged 12 and over, is a three-dose, intradermal vaccine that is needle-free and has a low risk of adverse effects. According to preliminary findings, it is 66.6 percent effective for symptomatic RT-PCR positive cases. “Subject Expert Committee (SEC) is expected to meet this week and will review the data,” sources told news agency ANI about the emergency usage approval. According to the sources, the DCGI's SEC would look into the data supplied by Zydus Cadila for minors above the age of 12. However, if the evidence is satisfactory, DCGI may provide final approval within a few days.
