Cyclone Mandous hits Andhra Pradesh's south coastline

Following the landfall of cyclonic storm Mandous off Mamallapuram in neighboring Tamil Nadu early on Saturday, heavy rains pounded numerous areas of Andhra Pradesh's south coastline and Rayalaseema districts. Naidupeta in the Tirupati district recorded the greatest rainfall, totaling 281.5 mm, over the course of the previous 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Saturday, according to an Andhra Pradesh government status report. Mandous, a cyclonic storm that crossed the coast near Mamallapuram and has now weakened into a deep depression, had an effect on the city and its surrounding areas.
