Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, is expected to be the first incumbent to return to power after serving a complete term. According to current trends, the BJP won a landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh today, crossing the 270-vote barrier. In the 403-member legislative assembly, 202 votes are required for a majority. According to the most recent polls, the ruling party was leading in 274 seats, while the Samajwadi Party, whose leader Akhilesh Yadav drew large audiences to his campaign rallies, was trailing in 124 seats. This is the first time in Uttar Pradesh since 1985 that a ruling party has returned to power.
