The National Center for Seismology reported that on Monday morning there was an earthquake in the Bay of Bengal with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale. The NCS reports that the earthquake took place today at 8:32AM in the Bay of Bengal at a depth of 10km. According to the Dhaka Tribune, the tremor caused by the earthquake was felt at roughly 9:05 am in Dhaka and other areas of Bangladesh. A representative of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department told the Bangla Tribune that the earthquake's epicenter was in the southwest of the Bay of Bengal, very near to India. The official said that the epicenter was 529 kilometers southwest of Dhaka, 340 kilometers southwest of Cox's Bazar, and 397 kilometers southwest of Chittagong.
