Amazon India opens its first Digital Kendra in Surat

In Surat, Gujarat, Amazon India opened its first Digital Kendra, a physical resource centre that would help kiranas and small businesses go digital. MSMEs would benefit from Digital Kendra's assistance in adopting technology to build their enterprises and play a larger role in the resuscitation and expansion of the Indian economy. According to Amazon, this would be a national project. In a virtual media conference on Wednesday, Amit Agarwal, global senior VP and country head, Amazon India, said the previous 15 months have seen a remarkable acceleration of technology, which has resulted in a big number of digital entrepreneurs in India.

Ecommerce, GST and taxation, shipping and logistics, cataloguing, and digital marketing are all areas where Digital Kendra can help. According to Manish Tiwary, vice president of Amazon India, around 200,000 new merchants and kirana businesses have joined the Amazon platform since January 2020. According to the corporation, it has so far produced over a million direct and indirect jobs in the country.
