In light of the current circumstances in Afghanistan after the Taliban seized power, India declared on August 17 that it will grant an emergency e-visa to Afghan nationals who wish to visit the country. All Afghans, irrespective of religion, can apply online for the ‘e-Emergency X-Misc Visa,' which will be processed in New Delhi. Two days after the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan, the announcement was made. The visa can be filed online and applications would be evaluated and processed in New Delhi, officials added, because Indian missions in Afghanistan are closed. According to them, the visa will be valid for six months at first.

Officials added that in processing the applications and granting visas to Afghan nationals, security concerns will be considered. The travel document is available to all Afghans, regardless of religion.
