After 15 years in office, the BJP was ousted from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD Election) by the AAP. The party headed by Arvind Kejriwal has promised to upgrade public facilities. On the other hand, BJP found comfort in winning more than 100 wards despite exit polls projecting its defeat. In the 250-member civic body, the AAP received 132 seats, well above the halfway point, while the BJP received 104. From nine wards, Congress has won. Speaking to supporters at the party office in Delhi, Mr. Kejriwal pledged to do his best to live up to the expectations of the public and asked all parties to work together to make improvements to Delhi. "We have to improve the condition of Delhi (for which we) need the cooperation of the BJP, the Congress and also blessings of the Centre and the prime minister," he stated, according to NDTV.
