The arrest of Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, in relation to an alleged violation of the city's liquor excise policy will be met with nationwide protests on Monday by the Aam Aadmi Party. Around 12 o'clock, the party will also hold demonstrations outside the BJP offices in the nation's capital, according to news agency ANI. On Sunday, following eight hours of questioning, Sisodia was taken into custody by the CBI. The spokesperson for the investigative agency claimed in a statement that despite being presented with proof to the contrary, the Delhi Deputy CM provided evasive responses and did not assist with the investigation. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) turned its attention to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal shortly after Sisodia was detained by the CBI, labeling him the "real kingpin" of the excise scam and stating that "he was next." The BJP has gradually increased its attacks on the Delhi government since July of last year over a number of alleged corruption-related accusations, building on L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena's recommendation for a CBI investigation into the "Excise Policy Scam."
