As he launched off 100 'kisan drones' in various regions of the country for spraying pesticides and other farm products, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence that India's growing competence in the drone sector will provide the world a new leadership. On Friday, Prime Minister Modi unveiled the drones, which authorities described as a "very novel and exciting initiative" benefiting farmers. The prime minister expressed in his speech that India is preparing for a new culture of drone start-ups. Their numbers will soon reach thousands, up from over 200 presently, resulting in a tremendous increase in job prospects. He also said that his government will ensure that the sector's development is not hampered, and that it has already implemented various reforms and legislative steps to help it grow. This is an example of how far the country can go if policies are in place, PM Modi added, stressing that until recently, drones were largely linked with the defense sector. Drones have been used in the 'Swamitva Yojana,' which is aimed at creating a record of land ownership in villages and distributing medications and vaccines, according to PM Modi.
